About This Quote

Relief is a great feeling. It’s the emotional and physical reward we receive from our bodies upon alleviation of pain, pressure and struggle. A time to bask in the lack of the negative things that bring us down. "Relief" is a good feeling. It’s good to have those good feelings.

But those good feelings build up and can become toxic if we let them take over our lives. If we let those good feelings take over our lives, we will be living in a state of constant relief for as long as we live. This can be great at times, but eventually, relief becomes a problem because it's easy to stay in that state all the time.

It's easy to have enough relief to never have to work again or change yourself or do anything that requires you to grow up and change yourself. Even worse, it’s easy to have enough relief that you never learn how to deal with pain or pressure or struggle or any kind of difficult situation because you always know there's someone who will always fix all your problems for you. The problem with this is that relief is even more deadly than pain and struggle because it doesn't teach you how to handle anything difficult on your own.  It doesn't teach you how to deal with problems without people doing everything for you.

When we don't face difficulty and threat and difficulty and threat and difficulty and difficulty and difficulty, we become like everyone else who never learns how to deal with stress and pressure and pain and struggle and difficulties and darkness and evil and anything else that threatens our happiness or makes us unhappy because those things are too much for us to handle on our own.
